If it were me i'd not bother turning up, sounds like typical corporate shite to make the company seem like fun.

It's not at all difficult to organise a works christmas party - find a venue, put on a free bar, pay for taxis. Job done.

I'm tempted not to, but the menu looks good and the food is free. As a student I never turned down free food and the habit hasn't left me after all this time
