It was perfect timing for me, just the right kind of information at the right stage of my development.

Also my first introduction to the great Wilko Johnson.
    Pretty much this.

it aired at the same time I was starting to learn to okay the guitar and was perfectly timed and just right amount of information.

i thought it was a great show and looked forward to each showing

Series two came out about a year after ofI started learning guitar and migrating from classical piano to rock and blues styles.
I videotaped all the episodes except I missed the one on guitar soloing for some reason. The episode on rock'n'roll piano was seminal for me, and also in the longer term the series marked my first introduction to Allan Holdsworth -

I was a teenager in a gigging band at the time, we thought Rockschool was unutterably drab.

    /\ This. Completely.

However, when my local jazz club billed Deirdre Cartwright about 7 years ago curiosity got the better of me and I went along, expecting to be disappointed. She was doing a tribute to Emily Remler with Kathy Dyson and frankly they were excellent. Darn can she play.

Deidre is currently the guitar player in the fabulous Alison Rayner quintet, a very musical and inspirational jazz combo ...

I missed this at the time, but I do remember watching "Rock Follies" which featured Deirdre Cartwright, if I remember correctly.

    Wasn't that Julie Covington?

But Cartwright might have had a non-acting role as a backing band member or something, I don't remember it that well.

You're right - it was Julie Covington. I was vaguely digging back in memories past. Deirdre Cartwright is certainly a class guitarist - I have a couple of her CD's. I used to check her website from time to time re gigs, but it hasn't ben updated for quite a while.

In The early 90's I  lived in the flat above Geoff Nicolls the drummer in Rock School.
    Noisy, was it?
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I remember Toyah in an episode of Shoestring back then too.

Bad News were much better, though.
