Hi,

I hope someone can help??

My good friend has just had a huge accident with his 97 Gibson Les Paul standard.

Unfortunately his Wife accidentally knock it to the floor giving it a huge Head Ache!!!

Looks like a fairly clean snap.

He is looking for a local Luthier with a very good reputation in the Leicestershire area, I have seen the Luthier topic on the forum but none are located in Leicestershire...

Please Help!

  • Honestly? I'd give @FelineGuitars a ring and arrange to send it to Jonathan. I've heard nothing but glowing praise for his headstock repair work. I know it's not local, but if you want the best repair, it may not be!

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Nigel at Leicestershire Guitar Luthier is your man, look at his repairs on his webpage. One is a similar job to that. Best of luck, be good as new in no time.

    Hi all,

Thank You again for for your advice on this, especially feline guitars!

We took the guitar to Leicestershire Luthiers as per your recommendation and the guitar arrived back a few weeks back almost as new. The break is virtually invisible and really tough to make out but best of all is that she probably holds tuning far better than she ever did! Probably due to the set up also but none the less my mate is absolutely chuffed!

We would highly recommend Nigel and the team at Leicestershire Luthiers for and neck repair or set-ups.

    Many thanks again!

I knew Nigel and Danny would sort it properly. They are awesome, lucky to live so close by as well.

Glad you got it fixed and working fine.
