Thoughts on this Strat?

One of my mates is interested in buying this and has asked what I think, I’m not sure?

Two string trees? Is that some kind of reissue?

The headstock decal is fake. I expect the rest is too.

Aye, the decal and scratch plate shape were the two main things that I noticed, along with the asking price of £450 for a USA Strat.

It's at best a Mexican strat (black plastic truss plug) but the body just looks off - avoid!

Not necessary a problem in and of itself.

The body outline where the upper bout cutaway meets the low E side of the neck is way out for anything manufactured under the Fender M.I. group umbrella - including the Sunn Mustang. Far more like a Tanglewood Nevada.

If the body is a Tanglewood, the neck was either of another brand or its headstock has been lovingly reshaped to resemble a Fender/Squier and, then, refinished after the decals went on.

To conclude, the item is a bitsa and, IMO, should be priced accordingly.

To me two trees is a Squier thing unless its a big 70's headstock,

Ask the vendor what brand the guitar was before the Fender decals were applied?

Alternatively, request photographs of the rear of the headstock and the neck anchor plate. Those should be somewhat revealing.
