Not sure if this has been posted here before. An old Tony Bacon interview with Don Randall who busts a few myths about Fender. Learned some things I didn't know.

Sadly all the top guys at Fender told a different story once Leo had passed. George Fullerton, Dale Hyatt and Don Randall were all after that 'crown' So I take whay Don says with a pinch of salt, I've read their books but without Leo we'll never really no the truth.

I don't think Don came across as being after any crown ....

  • Just watched the video at home - fascinating.

Although the soundtrack was like the middle 7 minutes of every song at a Matt Schofield gig. :)

Who'd trust the words of a salesman? One of the greatest salesmen at that! If you want to confuse it all further read Forrest White's book Fender The Inside Story and George Fullerton's Guitars From George & Leo. Each author dismisses the other.
You have to ask yourself if Don Randall was so wonderful why his Randall Amplifier company wasn't world No.1?
