Music to go to sleep by

What's Hot
relic245relic245 Frets: 962
I've started going to sleep listeing to music and finding that I'm sleeping longer and deeper than I have for a while.

At the moment the album of choice is Gordon Giltrap and Martin Taylor - (link below)

Any suggestions for others?

I often listen to music before I go to sleep, it always helps me sleep better no matter what I listen to - it's good to spend time away from phone / tv / computer screens. Long term favourites for pre-bed listening are John Martyn, Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell.

Brian Eno - Music for airports

Guitar wise a John Williams (guitarist not film composer) CD of South American music played on a classical guitar.

  • I've been listening to music to fall asleep to since I was 15. I've been through a hell of a lot of music and many styles in that time. Of the criteria you state, I suggest:

Kurt Vile's Walkin On a Pretty Daze album.

  • I don't normally do that but when I was younger I was very ill for a while and used to play David Sylvian's Gone to Earth to help me relax and snooze. Includes guitars rather than guitar based.

Some great suggestions here, thanks and keep em coming.

From what I've listened to so far there is definitely stuff I have added to my general listening list

As far as sleep goes - should have said that the only non-negotiable on my list of preferences is that it absolutely must be instrumental - other stuff still welcome though as it's always good to expand horizons :)

    +1 for John Martyn

Loren Connors 'Airs' is a bit special as well.

To be fair, I did always think that Pink Floyd's music was a bit tired.

    Sigur Ros - Agaetis Bryjun.

Awesome album, melodic, repeating increasingly complex layered rhythmic themes - great guitar work.... super relaxing.

If I listen to this album when boarding a plane, i’ll be asleep before takeoff.
