Fuzz for fender amps

What's Hot
newi123newi123 Frets: 860
Never really done fuzz pedals, but could do with one for a song or two.........

Running strat or tele into a 68 princeton and a 57 deluxe. Any recomnendations for fuzz? - and is it best to run the fuzz straight to the amp, or does fuzz into o'drive work better with fairly clean fender amps?

Thanks chaps (and chap-esses)!

I think it's hard to go wrong with a decent fuzz face clone (or similar) into a dirty amp or nice OD pedal. Stacking into a klone or the broadcast in low-gain works well for me.

guitar > fuzz > wah > OD > anything else

  • What @bbill335 said.  I love my Magnetic Effects White Atom (fuzz face derived, but not a direct clone) into a low gain OD.  Current favourite for the latter is a Snouse BB2 with the bright switch off.

This is a Thorpy Veteran into a Tweed Bassman and a Tweed champ

As you can see from the video I have a 68 Princeton too and I can say the Veteran sounds equally as good into that amp.

I like my Lunar Module (the one I got from you @Winny_Pooh) into a clean Fender, other FF types I've got need to go into a overdrive.

The Joyo Voodoo Octave is a good budget option, the top end has a nice soft edge to it, some others can get brittle with a Princeton.

You cant go wrong with any Magnetic Effects fuzz pedal. They seem really well received on this forum, and with good reason!

  • Another vote for the Thorpyfx Veteran (which is a highly modded fuzzface) into a blackface amp.... lush! Still need to give it a proper go with my tweed amp though.

Love my walrus audio contraband. It’s gated though which may not appeal to some. Simple to use though and sounds terrific to my ears

I have a Strat going through a Blues Delux RI, and  have used a big muff in the past, but recently used a Thorpy. Both worked very well. Most Fender amps take pedals very in my experience.

  • I find fuzz into 6l6 or 6v6 fender typesharsh, but can be amazing through very light toneshaping od.

  • EQD do the Black Ash, if you want an ultra rare one..(we've got one left) and i can attest to the Hoof as mentioned earlier. Magnetic Effects are excellent, they do a limited edition one called Buzzer as well as the others mentioned which is a clone of the Baldwin Burns Buzzaround fuzz with added controls and circuitry. Check out Zander Circuitry as well, quality UK builder.
