So, I had reason to call Hanks today. Basically they'd got a 1959 5E3 Deluxe and extension cab that I was interested in (sold it).

I rang up and asked them-

"I understand you've a 5E3 Deluxe and Cab for sale. How much and can you tell me about it?"

"A what?"

"A 5E3 Tweed"

"Never heard of them. We don't do it. we're a guitar shop."

"A 5E3 Deluxe"

A what? Sorry wrong place...we sell guitars and amps."

"A 5E3 Fender Tweed Deluxe and Extension cab."

"Oh, that....it's 1959 not 5E3- dunno where you got that from."

Fcuking muppets- how do they sell anything not knowing their products?

Donald Trump has spoken movingly about 7-Eleven. It reminded him, he said, of the way Americans came together in 1941 after Pearl Necklace.

They're probably concocting aged Phi Vithry tweed Fender combos as we speak.

Music Ground have always been rubbish. I tried out a couple of  Jap Tokai LP’s there once. Both were really badly set up with rattles and fret buzz all over the neck and very rusty strings. Probably something that a new set of strings and a set up would’ve sorted but bear in mind these were £800 guitars and this was back in the 90s so they were relatively expensive and for that kind of money you’d think they’d be well presented. To compare, I’d not long paid £499 for a new US standard Strat.

Their answer to my pointing out how badly they played? Don’t worry, we’ll throw in a hard case.

  • Would asking about the Fender tweed deluxe amp not have worked better.
Often guitar shop staff aren't as nerdy about model names and suchlike

Have you got a 1959 Marshall in stock
No - they didn't start making Marshall amps till 1962

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

This. Do not deal with criminals no matter what they claim to have that you want.

It will be overpriced for what it actually is anyway.
"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone."
