Anyone got Roland GR-55 experience?

I've recently dug mine out after some years in the loft, and I'm quite enjoying noodling around with it. It is a slightly annoying bit of kit in that it has 3 banks of loaded sounds, which are to my ears 95% garbage - but you are stuck with them! no deleting, no altering (unless you save to a new patch). It's pretty retarded thinking. They haven't even balanced the sound very well between some patches. There is just one bank for your own patches.

Anyway, forget all that. There's one thing I can't figure out? on some sounds (eg piano) the guitar is firing off millions of ghost notes, rendering the patch unplayable - however careful one is. On other sounds (LP stack for example) I can crash around with my usual sloppy guitar style and not a single misplaced note anywhere. Is there some kind of sensitivity setting for the patches that I am missing?
