Anyone using an external microphone with their Android phone???

I've got a OnePlus 3T and I like it as a phone, but for recording rehearsals and studio jams, and the occasional instagram video, the sound is just not satisfactory. Is anyone aware of a way to use a quality external microphone that is going to work well for guitars and loud music??

I don't really want to go iPhone.

I've got the iRig USB mic which I mainly use for my iPad but it has different connectors, one for Android, one for PC as well as any Apple device. Much better than the in-built mics on those devices, I use it for teaching clips for my Instagram.

Hmmm. Not sure I really want to buy an interface just for this. Although it does look decent.
