Joe B's version of Lazy..
Gotta say, I'm not a Joe B fan but I thought this was damn impressive, especially in the tone department. He pretty much nailed Ritchie's tone.

Hmmm - he's playing just behind, so not driving the song along like Blackmore.

Here's a heavily DP influenced band from the 70s whom you might not have heard of...

I believe you're right. And I'm a big JB fan.
    It's not a competition.

His playing in terms of the notes and phrasing is dead on, but the tone is nowhere near close - it's much more metallic and less rounded than Blackmore's, with much more fret noise. As prowla said he's also playing behind the beat, rather than ahead of it with the sort of suppressed anger that Blackmore always had :). But still impressive.

The keyboard playing is much closer to Lord's sound though!

  • I've seen this before, but it's always good to see it again so thanks for posting. That keyboard player is the poodles plums; I'd forgotten how good he sounds.

It took me a very long time to realise, but isn't the old geezer on second guitar Brad Whitford?
