Anyone Know A Good Short Run Or One-Off PCB Producer?

What's Hot
It's actually for a project for my kids class that I got roped in to but I know a lot of you guys get smallish runs made.  Anyone have any recommendations please?  @juansolo, @raulduke, @Forge?

I am not using PCBs anymore, just P2P and if required a perf board or wooden support for some of the components - but having said that I do not build more that on or two units at a time.

A good pal of mine uses http://www.expresspcb.com/ where you can do your layout and order the boards too.

If you want to use British quality boards I know Anglia circuits are great - the electronics company I used to work for had all their circuits made there for high end handwired radio systems.

Just one thing, if it is only a one off board you need or a proto build you could use veroboard.

  • I built the original of vero - it's simply a flashing framed badge logo thing that the kids make then we give them the little circuit to celebrate the schools anniversary.  Now they want to know what the price will be for potentially a few hundred eventually.  We got plenty of hands to help out with basic soldering if I oversee it but ultimately (depending on price) a PCB paint-by numbers approach it going to be easier for me to explain.

Mrp, or prosol. Both near cambridge. Nice people.

Prosol - used to be run by Nicola Kay - very nice - she's moved to another company now but still the same industry I believe; you can find her on linkedin etc.

    OSH park is amazing.

You can upload your gerber files, or Eagle .brd files (incredibly cool).

    Free international shipping.

I use it for all my prototypes, and I have sometimes even used it for small runs of PCB's.

In short: OSH park is awesome :) !

Should have mentioned orders from osh park usually take 3 weeks to get to me. Osh park is cheap and very high quality, but If you want quick turnaround uk manufacturers will be best.

  • Thanks.  Time isn't a immediate pressure as they are for the summer fair in June.

    I've used:

$50 for 5 double-sided, through plated and silk screened boards.

I like the look of OSH park and my try them for my next order.

To give you an idea about osh park it's $5 per sq inch. That gets you 3 pcbs and includes shipping.
