Four years dry.

What's Hot

some time this year (I can't remember the exact date) I will have been dry for four years! Not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips and I have to say I feel the better for it. I can actually afford things now that I'm not pissing all my money up against the wall, it was very hard at first but got easier as time went on. Has anyone else taken the plunge and quit the alcohol?
Tomorrow will be a good day.

    Well done mate.
I wouldnt say i made a conscious effort to cut down it just happened.
I Cant get out because of The Mrs and kids etc.
I had my fill for a good few years and so i think i am lucky. I haven't saved too much but i don't worry about bills anymore.
My biggest bill was always my Ale bill so  stop that and everything else gets easier.
I drink now and again usually watching the football at home and only a few cans.
4 Years dry is Excellent work mate good luck to you and enjoy your new found Health wealth and happiness.

Two years four months, but who's counting? Roughly the same amount of time caffeine-free. Eight years plus dairy-free.

If anyone expects me to give up chocolate I'll rip their heart out.

If I'd realised this forum was so full of recovering alcoholics I would never have joined. I do have some standards.

Hardly surprising considering what he's had to give up. Sounds hell.

Wow, I never realised so many of you have also given up the booze, well done and congratulations on quitting. The main thing I don't miss is the complete memory loss the next day, not knowing what you've done or said just a complete blank, horrible.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Gave up booze about six years ago.

During a medical MOT Doc told me I had a borderline fatty liver and that was all it took.

Not in real chocolate. Anyway, it's mostly vegetable fat in the "milk" chocolate.

Funnily enough, I had my last drink 2 years ago today.  Don't miss it in the slightest, in fact it's been easy.

The real battle is still ahead which will be to give up added sugar!

Fairplay mate well done. I've been seriously thinkint about it.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.
