I'm sure someone posted back on the MR forum about a similar UK based they were trying to set up - iirc they didn't get a positive response. For the more serious collectors or people wanting to compare pedals it could be a useful service - although a few regulars here do the pedal merry go round by buying used and flipping to do the same thing for less outlay.

Not sure how well the Lovefilm-style system would work - if you wanted to directly compare two pedals, you'd have to remember how the last one you rented sounded. Entirely too much effort.
