Are patch cables like socks in the tumble drier?

Every so often I buy new interconnects for my effect pedals. I just took delivery of 3 x 15cm cables with right angled jacks, and today I ordered yet another 25cm cable.  Neutrik plugs, Van Damme wire.  But I never seem to have enough of the darned things.  By all accounts I should have about a hundred of the things sitting around the house by this stage - after all, I've been buying them since the 1970s.

Everyone has moved over to Helix.  Surely there should be millions of patch cables for sale here on The Fretboard?

Keep pedals on a board and they stay put.

I don't think I've lost any patch leads, I'm still using some I bought from Maplins years ago.

I have just bought some more though, but that's because I wanted some that are longer than what I have at the moment (the longest ones currently are 30cm) because I've been enjoying trying different pedals through my feedback looper pedal and things are getting a bit stretched.
