What's Hot
My 31st wedding anniversary today! Wow, where have all the years gone?  :o
31 years ago I was managing a branch of Music Village in Peterborough. I closed the shop for the morning and all my staff came along to the event.

The sun was out and the skies where blue. Just a perfect day.  :)

Interestingly, my best man Chris, who was my keyboard salesman was the table-top drummer in this famous old advert for KitKat:

Any other 'lifers' out there?

Music Village was up in New England, on the Lincoln Road. The shop is now a Lithuanian restaurant called Kiamas:

I've not seen Chris in over 15 years but he was a Peterboroughian with deep roots there so I imagine he's still about.
He was a great character and an excellent piano player.
Man! Those were the days. The guys in the shop were the funniest bunch of chaps I've ever worked with. So many times I thought I would die laughing with some of the stuff that happened there. It would make great material for a comedy

  • It'll be 25 years this year. Our rough plans for a celebration put on hold by Brexit ( uncertainty over pet passports) so it might be a quiet one. We had a register office marriage followed by burritos in a pub.

25 years ago I was working as a social worker for adults with learning disabilities and today I'm working as...a social worker for adults with learning disabilities. Although almost all the time in-between I've been doing something else.

Anyway have a good day @equalsql and all my best to both of you.

    Congratulations!

29 years together, 24 married this year for us. Plans for massive party next year thankfully cancelled due to the psychotic dog (good dog).

  • @equalsql I thought it might have been there. It was called Live Music for a while, with a local musical family being involved in one way or another for many years. There is a guy round these parts who plays very good keys, but he's an eccentric fella and I've never tried to find out his name. Quite short, big hair, often wears a leotard on stage.

Funny enough Live Music was located not where Music Village was, but two stores up where the Kabul Restaurant is situated.
That used to be a large video rental store back in the 1980s. Music Live was started up by two local business men shortly after the Music Village branch closed in the early 90s.  There also, back in the 80s, used to be a drum  shop called Stix Music just further up the road next to the Salvation Army store.

That big guy sounds like an old customer of mine called Andy who used to run a cover band called: Too Hot To Sleep. He was a pretty wild looking individual.

Congrats to @equalsql and @steveledzep for today.

I met Our Maud in 1974, and we got married in November 1975, so just passed the 43 years mark... No sign of her clearing off yet, thank goodness!
