Guitar setup in Swansea Area

So Cranes music shop has closed and i need two guitars set up, there was one person quite local but he had a 6 week waiting list from me dropping off the guitars.
Would like it done quite a bit sooner than that if at all possible

So any suggestions for someone in and around Swansea who has a good reputation  ? or will i have to make a trip to Cardiff  ?

Hopefully i can get some help

What guitar types do you have and what attention do they require?

There are several tFB members near you who could probably assist with basic adjustments in exchange for a suitable bribe.

Fret levelling and reprofiling might involve a longer journey. Might even be worth looking West rather than East.

Jeff Beer of Zero One fame is now based in Llanelli (rather than Pencader which is fair old trek!!)

or Ed in the Shed in Trebanos

or go and see Gary Lewis in the Music Station in Fforestfach (opposite the Marquis)

!00% recommendation of Jeff at Zero one guitars and Ed. Jeff hs the slight advantage over Ed in my opinion but both have worked on my guitars.

As far as I know Jeff Beer hasn't opened his new workshop for business yet, he's still recovering from a neck injury.

Ed The Shed has picked up Jeff's slack so he's got a min 5 - 6 week backlog.

I'm not sure what Gary is up to these days.

If they just need a simple set up, truss adjust, intonation, action etc I'm happy to do it free of charge to help you out, I'm in Porthcawl.

Jeff and Ed being so close together is a bit mad. Both have always done great work for me.

I can highly recommend John Rose, Right Guitar Setup & repairs in North Cornelly just outside Porthcawl.
He was recommended to me by @lamf68 & has just done a fret level crown & polish on 2 guitars for me & full set up on 2 guitars for my stepson as he is so cheap it wasn"t worth me buying files & doing it myself.
We are both very happy with his work.

I see Gary Lewis name mentioned, if it's true that he still does setups, this fella was on another level for getting a guitar playing the best it can. He's based in Ynysforgan. Aside from Gary what @baldy said above, John based in cornelly is awesome, hell even collect the guitar from you and drop it off.

Who are the best refretters in South Wales? I've heard a few stories about poor quatity workmanship over the years (no names mentioned!).

I'm not sure there are any.

Rob Williams refretted my PRS last year after my usual guy, Jeff Beer said he doesn't do them.

Rob did an unbelievable job  !

He sent me a load of photos of the job if you'd like to see them.

Its impossible to tell its been refretted.

@baldy, thanks for the heads up. North Cornelly isn't that far from Cardiff and I work in Llantrisant so I'm half way there anyway .

He is only 2 minutes (literally) off the M4 junction 37.
I can"t believe how fortunate I am in having a great & very reasonably priced re-finisher in lamf68 & an excellent & also very reasonably priced tech/lluthier in John both so close to me.

I'm in Cornelly and met John for the 1st time yesterday.

I can't vouch for his work yet but he's a really friendly guy and seems to know what he's talking about.
