Had you already bought it or gone for a try out first? I recently went to try a Carlsbro head. The trip was about 100 miles all-round. Maybe just over. It only cost £100 as it had been modified. Of course I bought it as it was full of valvey goodness.

Just ran the numbers on my Sheffield to Bridgwater round trip when I went to grab my AV54 Strat. Comes up around the 420 mark as well.

Take plenty of good coffee, adequate rests and don't be above grabbing a room and a kip if it comes to it...although I wound up starting my round trip in the evening so I could have seen to my dogs in the day. Got to be easier in the daytime!

Hope you're getting something nice...at least half as happy as I am with the Strat or it ain't worth the madness!!

Funnily enough, I booked train tickets yesterday. I’m doing a 400 mile round trip on Tuesday to have a look at two breeds of cat, both of which are relatively uncommon. May, or may not, buy a kitten, but one breed I owned before, and the other I’ve only seen in photos.
