2x10 pine cab, recommendations?

I'm looking for a 2 x 10 speaker cab, preferably built from pine, but there doesn't seem to many UK or European based choices out there? I know that Zilla has a lot of fans on here but are there any other cab builders I can consider?

I think Mark from AF Custom Cabs mentioned that the 1974X style cab he made for me is made of pine. It’s certainly very light. He does absolutely top-notch work at extremely reasonable prices, but you’ll have to wait.

When I enquired with Zilla, they didnt do pine. Asked a few other places too but most didnt do it or didnt get back to me. Checekd with AF cabs and I think he started winding down due to heath if I remember correctly. 

In the end I went with hoffnine who I would highly recommend.

By way of an update.

I couldn't get exactly what I was after, so in the end I settled for a compromise. I got a birch ply empty 2x10 Montage cab from Lean Business. £120, the build quality is excellent. And I loaded it with a couple of Jensen 10s. V happy.

For anyone else looking to have a pine cab built, Vyse Amps built one to my specs that I'm very happy with.

Mark Hopkins builds all the cabs for Gartone. They offer a Victorian pine option which is really dried out and lightweight. They’ll build whatever you want.

Just out of interest @sxard, did your Vyse Amps cab include tolex covering and if so was it OK? I ask because the covering on an amp they built for me was not good and I don’t know whether that is a common issue or if I was just unlucky. Soundwise it’s good btw.

Yep, they did the tolex. No problems with it on mine.

Yep, they did the tolex. No problems with it on mine.

@Modulus_Amps ;; built a pine cab with floating baffle (like a tweed). For my Jim Kelley amp. It is quite nice, and Michael is awesome to deal with.

Ive recently brought a new cab from AF custom cabinets. Definitely does pine as he offered it as an option.

Ive had Zilla, Hoffnine and AF cabs and they are all really very good.

Why don't Zilla offer pine? Sounds weird, given how flexible they are.

I've bought a pine cab for my 5E3 from a bloke on eBay, located in the UK. The price was pretty good, the cab is outstanding, fantastic tweed covering too. The name is Rory Coupland, you can read about him a bit in here:

No, fairly lightweight, thin plywood. Most of the lightness and rigidity of Barefaced cabs comes from clever bracing and thoughtful designs.
