I've had a fun half an hour going through my collection. Obviously these are favourites of mine, but I do think they're classics

    Doves - Lost Souls
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
    Richard Hawley - Coles Corner
    La Roux - La Roux
Muse - Black Holes & Revelations
QOTSA - Songs For The Deaf

Trying to think what might get the nod to appear in the actual "Classic Albums" TV series - the only post-2000 album to feature in it so far is Amy Winehouse's Back To Black.

Agree with @ICBM that something can't be considered to be "classic" until a decent period of time has passed - at least 5 years, probably 10.

Interesting to discover that there were a bunch of extra episodes made for Dutch TV and the only 21st century album there is:
Caro Emerald - Deleted Scenes From the Cutting Room Floor.
    So, that.

    Garbage - Beautiful Garbage
Good to see someone else not following the usual “the first album is great but all the others are rubbish” line. I actually think all the first four albums are equally good, and the two more recent ones almost as much.

    Ahh, Dixie Chicks.

I’m not sure if musically you could call Permission to Land a classic as it’s effectivley retro but if I were the producer of the Classic Album series I think it would be on my list; not hard to imagine that being a colourful episode.

I adore that album by The Antlers. Kettering is an exquisite track, the whisper vocal is unique.

Low are so musical and rhythmical, it's a brilliant album.

    Boards Of Canada- Geogaddi
    Doves- Lost Souls
The Besnard Lakes- Until In Excess, Imperceptible UFO
    Radiohead- Hail To The Thief
    Low- The Great Destroyer
Mogwai- Happy Songs For Happy People
    Iain Archer- Magnetic North

    just for starters.

IMHO Geogaddi is far and away the greatest album released this century. @MagicPigDetective ; described it as "the sound of the zone between sleep and awake" and he's not wrong. Having spent many an amitriptyline-fuelled night stuck in exactly that state (not out of choice, mind!) I can confirm that.
It is a dark album, though not in the traditional sense. It's choc-full of subliminals and backwards masking and leaves you with the feeling of having remembered your childhood through a twisted filter. It just doesn't ever seem like there's a time when I don't want to listen to it.

    Genius.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.

    Gomez -How We Operate
Hell Is For Heroes -The Neon Handshake
Hundred Reasons - Ideas Above Our Station
    John Mayer - Heavier Things
    Strokes - Is This It

    I could go on but...

    all great albums.

    I’d pick The Remote Part.

What would make it be considered a classic? Every song is a cracker? There are way too many to mention. Superunknown would be one for me, but that's 25 years old at this stage...

Master of Puppets? I used to really like Elbow. Revisited recently, and was undewhelmed a little bit. Some really really good songs on each album, but none of the albums, for me, now, are a "every song is brilliant".

I'd possibly chuck in something from Mogwai or Sigur Ros ( ) .

I would say that, plus it has to be widely popular, and that it has to have had been fairly influential - if not all three, then at least one of them has to be so overwhelming that it overrides whichever one it isn't.

I'm aware that there's at least one historical classic album which was not widely popular when first released - The Velvet Underground & Nico. But it's one of the most influential albums ever, so it is a classic.

Audioslave’s debut album was pretty darn good. Other than that, I can’t think of any that haven’t already been mentioned.

Perhaps Lost in the dream by The War On Drugs?

@Fuengi ;;  Noticed Sufjan Stevens on your list. I reckon Carrie & Lowell is probably his best album now, definitely a modern classic imo, and I am not a super fan or anything like that. What did you think to it?
