Any love for for Gretsch Players Edition? G6128T?

What's Hot
After work i'm going to pop into a local guitar store to try a few guitars and have seen they have some Gretsch Players Edition plus other models.

Very interested by the G6128T Players Edition Jet. Anyone own one? Versatile? Well made? They have Vintage Select and the Cliff Gallup Signature in the Jet. But i'm open up to other models. Looking for mojo and versatility! Can it get through a function gig clean funk to classic rock? Jet a good option?

Any one own any other Gretsch Guitars that would be worth checking out?

Very surprised to see the vintage select guitar range isn't finish in nitro and is over 2.5k!

Would love to know your thoughts

The Streamliners are insane value for money.  Slightly questionable pickups if you want the Gretsch sound, but still awesome guitars.

My G6118T Players Edition is also rather good.  It feeds back even on the clean channel if you let it, which is both a blessing and a curse - good that it's so alive, bad that it won't handle high gain.

I don't have any experience of the solid bodies but I do know that the Japanese-made stuff is sure to be of the utmost quality.

If it was me I'd be buying used on here, so many bargains to be had!

Awesome guitars.  Only downside is that the necks on most Japanese Gretsches are a touch on the skinny side.  If the offered a G6128T with a nice fat neck, would buy one today.
Agree about the Streamliners, particularly the G2420T. Nice chunky neck too. Swap out the pickups for Filtertrons, and it’ll take on the more expensive G5420 head to head.
I’m an Annie fan through and through. Same construction as the 6120, slightly thinner body, awesome pickups, not as blingy as a 6120.  My perfect Gretsch. Love them....great used buy too!

Just about any 6118T. There have been three different lovely Annie’s for sale on this board recently, all different, all excellent.
The Annie in the GuitarGuitar sale s a stupid low price for a new Gretsch, (£1599), but some better deals to be had in the classifieds here.

Times are tough, people need to sell thing. There are a few right now, but I’m guessing twice as many R8’s/R9’s have been listed while these were on sale.

Don't know, but seeing the price of a new one on guitarguitar, it's not surprising that the used 6118's are not actually selling.

GG got like well over 15 in when they were first reduced, which sort of implies Gretsch couldn't sell them all either, at least not at full price...

They appear to be down to just one now, as soon as that goes the used ones are more likely to shift...
