I have always loved the loose, random Big Band-style drums on Andy Williams' Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You

Anything by the Carpenters (though Tony Peluso's guitar might have something to do with it...)

I just watched a bbc acoustic show from last night - I thought James Blunt was pretty good...

possibly even more uncool - I really like the drumming (simon phillips or the chap from toto?) on cher's version of the shoop shoop song.

Michael Bolton - Steel Bars - I bought the CD single at the time... is an epic production though! LA sound at it's height...

    Oasis - 'D'You Know What I Mean'.

I hate Oasis intensely, but I like that song.

I love Andy Williams, the Carpenters, George Michael... and I recently got the Spice Girls first album for my daughter, and found it wasn't as bad as I was expecting! Made me feel old to realise it was recorded almost five years before she was born though.

But liking Michael Bolton deserves being shot for :).

All Along The Watchtower by Hendrix.  I know he is generally considered to be a bit shit an' all by proper musicians but I like that track.

"Life is a Rollercoaster" by Ronan Keating. Lovely loose swing to that. Written by the New Radicals bloke.

"Back for Good" by Take That. Not a fan and I don't like anything else by them. I think Gary Barlow doesn't write songs, he just comes up with decent choruses, and that one works for me.

I think that is a 'perfect' song. A truly great pop song. And one Gary might consider a minor rewrite of in view of recent news: "I guess now it's time, for me to pay up. I guess it's time".

It's Karen's voice that does it for me.   There's some stuff that just make the hairs stick up.

Perfect example of a song where the writer should have been physically stopped from ever singing it…

Once you've heard Janis Joplin's version his is just awful.

I can't see owt wrong with owning up to any of these songs, there's some classics on here. It's not like it's an embarrassment to like "Pop" music.

But, If we are going to going to go with the "Cheesy" (a term I despise) theme, then just to name a few:

Chesney Hawkes - The one and Only (Guitar solo by ???????Nik Kershaw????????)

Wham - Club Tropicana, what a Bassline.

Bucks Fizz - The Land of Make Believe

    Shakatak - Nightbirds

    Plus loads of 70's Disco/Funk and 80's Soul/Funk/RnB/Post Disco

and let's not forget Spandau Ballet.

    :)
