Strymon Big Sky

I used to be renowned (amongst a very small group of people) for using lots of delay.
3 DD3s and a Flashback X4 all on the same board at one point.

Anyhow, I got a Big Sky earlier this year from @AdolfHipster and at first I struggled to get the sound I wanted, however it's now hardly ever turned off. My delay pedals feel very neglected indeed, as I'm getting what I want from about 11 different reverb presets.

My point of this post is, if you're thinking about getting one, stop it. Just buy one now.

Best pedal I've ever bought without any shadow of doubt.

It was weird how I struggled at first but the Bloom, Cloud, Hall and Plate settings are just so delicious. Now if I had my board nicked it would be the first one I'd replace.

    Just all kinds of awesome.

Best £450 you'll spend on a pedal mate.

And an awesome pedal! Long after the guilt has passed or developed into a divorce, the Big Sky will still be faithfully enhancing your tone.

Why? There are far worse things you can do than spend your hard earned cash on guitar gear. That Big Sky will be with you for the rest of your playing life, you'll never need a better sounding reverb than that.

Ok, so you could've donated the money to charity and saved someone's life.... I'm just kidding!

    ;)

Did you see all that collectors stuff they had in? Loads of un-played amps. The (like new) mark 1 Boogie must be pretty rare. There were also about 8 untouched PRS guitars including a Santana. They had an original un-played Blade RH2 which was my kind of thing. But at £1899 I think it will be un-played for another 25 years! Hehe!

I have a Flint which I like, but I find it hard to care all that much about reverb.

    Am I very wrong?

The Big Sky is an amazing pedal.  I tried out the Cab Filter switch on mine today direct into the PA.  It was quite passable.

No. The Flint is on my short hit list. If Reverb is done well like it is in the Flint, it doesn't have to be complicated. I've got a great long spring tank in my amp, but it isn't right for everything. I like the Plate and 80's thing, not to mention the '61 Trem setting!

The 80s verb on the Flint is awesome. Why it's not included exactly on the Big Sky I'll never know but you can loosely recreate it.
