Single coil wires

So I'm in the middle of replacing the wiring/pots on an old no name tele, what's the general rule re the wires? Both pickups have a single yellow wire which when stripped reveals a black insulated wire and a bare wire. Which is hot? Black? Generally speaking? Ta

With shielded cables like these, the bare (outer braid) is always ground and the core is always hot.
