My Frankenstein Telecaster Plus

Hi all,

Would like to share some pics of a telecaster plus I recently acquired.

It was a Mexican telecaster, and I got a new solid ash body, bridge, pickups, and jack input. So, bar the neck, it's almost like Trigger's brush.

It's darn heavy, and the one thing that is obvious is the plate on the back is a little angled, as in it looks from behind that the neck is at an angle, but it's not, it's the way the wood was cut from what I can see.

A young feller in Ireland put it together for me, a guy called Conor Cogan who sells bodies etc in his spare time.

Intonation needs a little tweak, but the Lace Sensors sound great, and it sustains really well.

Push/Pull pot to split the humbucker too and stainless steel frets which were on the Mex tele when I bought it.

I am tempted to throw it on the market to see what the interest might be.

As I'm in Ireland, and it's so heavy, it might cost a pretty penny to post overseas.

This isn't a classified ad, just looking for feedback on what people think of it.

I might move it over to classifieds in a month or so. ;)

It is. It's fresh off the assembly line. I'm trying to get used to the weight of it. I'm used to lighter guitars.

I like that. I'm not wild about Lace Sensors though.

I'm a gonna swap this for a modded strat methinks.

I must say, I do like the lace sensor pickups, or at least the idea of them.

Any tips for high output pickups for a strat? I was thinking of the Lace Sensor Plus Pack (Blue, Silver, Red)

    Yes. They are superfluous.

They are indeed. The humbucker can be split, but I didn't get a kill switch installed at all.

That be the one! I like the sound of the Lace Sensors in the tele, but have the opportunity of swapping for an upgraded Jimmy Vaughan strat with a new neck, American bridge, and upgraded pickups, which I might go for. It will be lighter at least!

The Blue, Silver and Red combo works really well, although the Blue is a fair bit darker (as I'm sure you know from the Tele).

I have a set hooked up with Clapton electronics and the mid-boost and TBX tone control makes it really versatile.
