Bernie Leadon

hi,

Saw the eagles at the weekend, and thought they were great.

Really liked Bernie Leadon's playing with them, he managed to  make his telecaster sound  like a lap steel.

I'm playing in a band where some of this type of thing is required, and would appreciate some pointers to good websites/books/dvd's for learning this type of technique, or is this just a standard Bluesgrass type of playing?

cheers,

The chances are he was using a 'B' Bender.

Solos like Peacefull easy feeling, and Take it easy are using a B Bender, but they can be played without. Just make sure your bends are snappy and accurate, with blues you tend to bend up and vibrato, with country you often play the note bent up a tone then release, or just bring the note up a tone and play it with another string or two, but it has to be accurate or can sound off very easily.
