My take on the Paisley/fabric craze....

What's Hot
Not one, but two projects. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/Niallmo/1BB817E8-C383-4596-98B5-F63E6185B9D9_zpszx7u6hlr.jpg Hopefully I can get started on the Tele Custom tomorrow. I was never really satisfied with the sanding as I went through the sealer in places and never got the cutaways done properly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/Niallmo/760562C6-3F61-48BA-A0EF-CD2CBF638B0C_zpsyhzdeb9b.jpg I've got some mod podge extreme glitter on the way too so the brighter more vibrant one for the standard Tele may have a bit of a twist! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/Niallmo/CBEE84B2-E05F-46DD-ACAC-7FF6736E556B_zpssbqmh08k.jpg Amazing quality test on the back of my Strat lol.

I do think of all the people to have graced the forums - Jon Gomm ... Clarky ... MDphilips

I reckon Jooky might end up being the legendaty one for his stuff... unlike most endeavours it didn't start with oohs and ahs ... it started with a mixed reaction - which I reckon is a hallmark of real originality.

I love the headstock motif and the dipped headstock ... and the exotic finishes using vert de gris and acids ... utterly original :D

I also reckon Nialmo is another dude in the customising arena - certainly inspired me :D well done sir!
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

  • A warning on the glitter stuff. I just used the standard on the jazz paisley project and you get a lot of glitter in it.

Use little and spread it about!

  • Also, be wary when smoothing out the fabric after the first coat and make sure it doesn't drip down the sides like it did on mine :(

    Sanding is the game tonight.

Ah, some good advice there. May come out as a metallic finish on mine then rather than glittery. Here is the body, hardware off. I'll give it a quick sand as it's still quite smooth then it's glue time! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/Niallmo/59BECC6C-82B4-444E-BBF1-8189D6F37541_zpsbzvrblxq.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/Niallmo/5A6C1FA2-12B6-42FD-8E09-9D3E7EB13E95_zpszlskihof.jpg

Oh dear, just had a blinding idea! If the glittery mod podge is good I have my ML-1 that might benefit from a few coats! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/Niallmo/ee069d05.jpg

With the Modge Podge just remember to apply a small amount at a time -

@Niallmo - I wouldn't put it on bare wood - it'll probably work but be a real mare if you ever decide to take it back off... If you want an easy glitter give me a shout and I'll point you at some acrylic, which will come off with thinners if you don't like it ;)

I'll be holding off for a bit on the ML-1. I really need to concentrate on the first Paisley and actually take my time and do it properly. Not try and do it in 3 hours.

Ok, a plan has formed, if I burst it I'll need to practice, surely bo better way than on the actual body! If it goes wrong I can cover it with the fabric. If it goes right it'll be easier to do the burst over the fabric if the edges and cutaways are already the right colour! I'm going to do the scratch plate too, but not burst.
