    The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces.     Erm... Yes I have a sense of humour. Can't speak for my grandfather now - he died some time ago but he was a welsh gentleman, hence my comment.

    Technical question - how does all that extra material and glue on top of the body affect the guitar's tone?
