Playing an electric guitar through an amp sounds

a bit strange after many weeks of unamplified [acoustic] 'electric' playing.  Took me a long while to get used to not hearing the sound from the guitar itself.  And my fretting had got a bit sloppy, something I was not aware of as I did not hear the slightly damped strings etc.  Making a resolution to play plugged in a few times a week at least.

Anyone any thoughts or suggestions on this.

i always practice the guitar un amplified but practice live and play a bit as well so it keeps me right...i think...but yeah i think especially if you play with a bit of gain you need to practice the same way or you get strings ringing ect...it makes you a bit lazy practicing un amplified.....but also it can be good practice cos you are just concentrating on the tone of the guitar without fx and stuff....i think its good to do both..
