What free transcribing software?

If I have to splash £99 for Sibelious First then I will, but if there is something good that's free, then great!

I did find MuseScore - anyone tried that?

Power Tab Editor is pretty good for free, not as complex as Sibelious though.  Depends on what you want to use it for.  http://www.power-tab.net/guitar.php

D'you mean notation software? Sibelius has a very different feature set to Transcribe!, doesn't it?

Software to write trad sheet music - and ideally with the ability to scan in sheets for editing too, although I understand that is very likely to cost money.

Wow, never heard of OCR for sheet music, that would be cool!

For the best price, i.e. free, I found a free download of GuitarPro 6 lite version a while back that was functional.

Sibelious First will scan in and allow editing.

I've always used PowerTab, but that's so I can transcribe out solos and work out what my ear is hearing. I really like it, but might not be what you're after
