@not_the_dj very kindly let me know about a local band looking for a guitarist. I did an audition on Monday and they were going to try somebody else next week but seem to have decided to ask me anyway. Not sure this is my way out of the rat race but hopefully we can do some gigs and they seem like a good bunch. So, happy day! Of course, give it a month and I'll be on here moaning about them...

I am indebted and the singer comes across as a great guy - although 'singer' and 'great guy' so rarely appear in the same sentence!

fairly standard pub blues band. Nice to join something where pretty much all I've got to do is turn up and play.

It''ll be my knowledge of tv theme tune riffs I will try to apply inappropriately, no blues in A is complete without the Bonanza theme inserted.

I've always wondered what it would sound like if someone tried shoe-horning the melody to Blue Moon into a Blues or Blues-Rock tune.
Sadly, I doubt it will ever happen...:(

I used to have the habit of inserting the theme to The Wombles into extended pentatonic work-outs, an affliction I picked up when I lived in Wimbledon. I only lived their for six months but the cheerful melody would spontaneously burst out at inopportune moments for many years after I moved away.

I think I've weaned myself off it now, though.

The penny dropped! I don't know if that was done on purpose or if it was a big coincidence for Clapton.

Maybe you could update the idea a little and do the theme from Button Moon?

Or go back a bit further and go for the Blue Danube...?

Or maybe it doesn't have to have anything to do with either "blue" or "moon".....

Sorry @mudslide73 only just seen your comment. The band formed a while ago, played one gig and a guitarist left ( following a family bereavement I gather) so I was recruited as his replacement. Meantime the other guitarist and bassist left ( I don't think anything personal to do with me) and I'm on holiday for the next gig so last night was with two deps and I'll be depped in August. So, basically it's singer+drummer plus whoever is available! However, the long term aim is to have a settled line up and develop a less jam based set list.

put some stuff in the Whose Gigging Discussion at about 1am as well. I'd have to say I was feeling quite negative about it due to the lack of rehearsal and slightly chaotic approach of things and then got stuck in terrible traffic getting there and there was almost no audience so grrr... but then we got to play for an hour and it was great! Between the five of us not unfair to say there were cock ups ( there was a definite Jazz Odyssey moment where we mangled about the only song that had more than 3 chords) but if nothing else we were clearly much better than the other band and they actually knew each other and had rehearsals and stuff. :o3
