My band rehearse with IEMs so I'm not bothering to take my amp to practice and I'm using the clean channel of an AMT C2 preamp straight into the desk at the moment.
It sounds surprisingly good, but it doesn't respond to pedals quite as I'd like.
The Tubemeister 5 head on the classifieds has piqued my interest. It's small and has a built in redbox so it can be used unloaded as a preamp and speaker simulator.
I'm starting to wonder if perhaps it might be a good choice as something to use as a rehearsal tool as something running off the back of a hot power amp is presumably going to sound more like a real amp.
I don't have a cab so it would be 100% for running dumped into a desk.
Is this sensible or am I nuts?
