Chord Of The Week 5/7/14 - Moveable 9th Chords

Formula 1 3 5 b7 9, so C9 contains the notes C E G Bb D, which is the not-very-friendly 87533x on the fretboard. A far more familiar 9th chord is the x76777 James Brown classic E9.

Here are moveable 9th chords based on each of the five CAGED shapes.

Db9 (C shape): 43444

Bb9 (A shape): x13534 (or Bb9no3rd x13111)

Ab9 (G shape): 4x1312

F9 (E shape): 131213 or xx3243

Eb9 (Dshape): xx1321 (no third, often you could use xx1021 which is really an E-shape)
