Yep, The Ramones are pretty much to blame for everything that came after my first barre chord.

My first gig was in a school band playing (almost) entirely a Ramones set. 

Saw them only once, but it was at The Rainbow, New Year's Eve, when they recorded "It's Alive". 

And tonight I know we'll get "Blitzkrieg Bop" into the set list. 
Legs apart, look at the audience, all down strokes.  Think happy thoughts about one of my favourite bands.  Happy to be playing their stuff after all these years.

Gutted to hear this.

They were very important to my age group (49) and as with most barre chords and thrashing through their songs was totally seminal.

Sad.  Massively important band and none of them made a decent age really.

I bet Marky is going to find himself popular with the media over the next few weeks.
