FB 4 Teaser!

What's Hot
OK peeps here is the deal!

In future (FB#5) I will release the new challenge after the voting opens, rather than when the voting closes as it is at the moment (thus giving you extra time to practice and write stuff). I will however aim to release FB#4 a little bit earlier than when voting closes, hopefully early next week (this week is very busy for me).

FB4 will be involve writing a piece of music for an exciting scene from a very famous movie. The original version of the scene you are to write music for has an orchestral score / film music. You basically need to interpret what is going on in the scene via music (there is no right or worng way of composing music to this challenge) if you think its funny, do something funny, likewise if you think its scary write something scary etc etc.

When the competition is announced I shall link (through private YouTube vid) to a copy of the scene with the original audio and a copy of the scene without audio.

For those of you wondering, the copyright for the film in question has expired due to failure of the owners to submit an extension (a while ago) it is now officially in the public domain and can be uploaded in its entirety on sites such as YouTube.

FB#4 COMING SOON!

  • I'm trying to vary stuff as much as possible beacuse I would like the challenges to avoid the normal music challenge cliches, although much like FB#3 there will occasionally be some more normal-ish challenges.

Peter: So, uh, what do you guys do for fun around here? Mort Goldman: We like to watch old movies while listening to "Hotel California" to see if it synchs up in a significant way. And so far, no. Nothing has.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

If you found the scene in question in anyway arousing I would be seriously concerned for the local population where you live.

I like the idea, I also love the idea that it could be an old film version of The Marriage of Figaro, which I am sure would benefit from soft porn wahwah and a sudden climax of cowbell
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

It could have been, although you will find that it is still under copyright in the US due to some legal case that occured a few years ago in which the rights to it were reinstated. I wouldn't want the tracks to be blocked from YouTube because of it, so unfortuantely that is not the film.

Actually the original is still public domain - the whole film is on YouTube. Kino International have the rights to a remastered and extended version with new subtitles and music. This is not on YouTube.

Must dig out the guitar synth for some strings/pad action .. :-)

  • I'm waiting for the FB competition where we have to improvise the blues using pentatonics. I'd SMASH that bad boy!

    +1

In fact something we did on another forum was along that line where we all used the same backing track then added our own solos, edited togther into one long pentatonic widdle fest epic.

I bet that's actually a really interesting exercise to see if one petatonic blueser is more creatve than another pentatonic blueser.
