Spectre - fkin ace. What's not to like? Unless you don't like Bond films? Very good. Gadgets, car chases, exotic locations, women, stunts, baddies, explosions, big hard baddies, a few jokes. Great stuff.

IMO it was a bit more of a throwback to the traditional Bond, which was a little more lighthearted and fanciful than say Casion Royale and Skyfall. Depends how you judge a film I suppose. Skyfall and Casion Royale were actually more conventional films, whereas Spectre has a bit more of the Bond camp, but is still superbly shot and well made.

  • Minion movie. It was bit like Batman as I couldn't understand what they were saying, but still an enjoyable 6/10

  • Star Wars ! (A New Hope, original theatrical release on DVD).

Yes of course I've seen it many many times before......but I've waited 7 years to sit down with my son and watch it together.

Fantastic to watch him watching it for the first time....he loved it.....as did I.

Top Dad moment....and of course he's now desperate to watch Empire.....can't wait to see his face when Darth breaks the news to Luke!

Very well done for letting him see them in the *correct* order. To me, Star Wars is and always will be the first one, not "4".

He can then watch "1", "2" and "3" later if he wants without spoiling one of the greatest moments in cinema history.

Which I saw on the big screen at the age of 13, on the first weekend it was showing… when no-one knew.

I just hope he doesn't hear from anyone else at School, he's been buzzing about the film all weekend and he's bound to mention he's seen it to his class mates.

  • I watched it again recently but our dvd has the cgi additions which are terrible. The Family Guy spoofs have largely spoiled it too as they point out the plot holes. Despite all that it is a landmark film, an evolutionary leap from what was there before and the non cgi effects still look remarkable for the vintage.

Saw it yesterday .Kept thinking it wasn't as good as Skyfall and Casino Royal but couldn't quite put my finger on why.The above sums it up quite nicely.Have a Wiz.

It's interesting you say that, I watched it last year for the first time since 1977 and I thought it was dreadful - no problem with dated FX or anything, I don't mind that at all, I just thought the script, the acting and the whole look of the thing were clunky and awful.

I guess I'm just not a Star Wars (or Geo. Lucas) person.

Hope not. I let mine watch all three over a weekend so there was no chance of that. Back in 1980, me and my friends probably talked about nothing else for a week…

That's also why the funniest line in any film ever is in Toy Story 2. Every adult in the place was almost literally rolling on the floor - the kids mostly looked baffled. If he's already seen Toy Story it will now make sense :).

    Machete Order for the win!

    SW then ESB.

Then watch Prequels as a flashback.

    then RTJ to finish.

Or you can miss out Phantom completely as it does NOTHING for the story.

That way you get the Vader reveal without already knowing about it from the prequels, BUT still get the RTJ ending to be the actual end.

Man up with Simon Pegg.  Was surprisingly good for a romcom,

  • Bird Man. I found it hard going. As a film it's admirable as craft and film buffs and students can pick it apart for years to come but I struggled to get engaged with it.

  • Terminator-Genisys

Plot holes and time-line malarkey a plenty, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

7/10, upgraded to 8/10 for Emilia Clarke being in it. Daft accent aside, she does make stuff easier to watch ;)

Warrior with Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte.

Wasn't expecting much but actually pretty good, and the ending although a bit cheesy and predictable still brought a tear to my eye.

    8/10.

She said there were a few funny moments, but it was all a bit earnest...
