    I haven't had a watch for about 10 years.

I don't really see the point anymore.

I like that, although it's hardly "completely new". It's taking the concept of time back to something like a sundial.

Knowing the exact time to the exact minute, let alone second, really isn't necessary for most of us, and it makes us slaves to it. Digital time display makes it even more so. (I admit there are times of the day where I currently do need to know to the minute... like for getting the kids to school.)

I really should get a new strap and battery for my old watch, I've been meaning to do it for ages :).

I like it.  Though I have a watch that works, and see no point in having another, unfortunately.

It's not a guitar though, so I moved the discussion to OT.

    :)

I've been the same for quite a while.

Lately I've been thinking I might get one, mainly because I think looking at my phone to check the time appears to be rude, as though I'm not really that interested in what someone else is saying.

  • I'm more of your Rolex man, myself. But it's certainly unusual, so what's stopping you from buying it?

One thing springs to mind. And if she finds out I'm taking purchasing advice from a doggy again she'll crush me.

Same here. Interestingly, it's led to me having a better "sense" of time - I check the time every hour or two, but I can usually guess the time accurate to within 4 or 5 minutes in between.

  • Ah.

Well, watches are at least easier to conceal than hi-fi speakers, but may be a little more difficult on the "I borrowed it off a mate" bullshit front. And of course, taking advice from a doggy can be financially dangerous.

Same here I'm rarely out by more than 5 minutes.

  • I like a nice watch. I'd love a Rolex but can't see myself ever spending that kinda money on "just" a watch.

That's very cool. I think you should go for it. Lets face it if we only bought things we needed we wouldn't have much.
