Anyone owned one?

Fancy giving one a whirl, but figured I'd ask you lot first.

I want something ridiculous and it does sound 'ridiculous'.

It's a shame they've never made a compact-format version. I couldn't justify giving up that much board space to that effect.

I think I'd make space. If I liked it.

Need to go check one out though.

The problem is that it would entail giving up three normal-sized pedals. Just not an option for one effect.

    what are you deeming ridiculous?

If you want mental/silly I would look at

    Langtronics bone collector
    Earthquaker Devices Rainbow machine
    Earthquaker devices Organizer
    Boss Tera Echo
    some kind of ring mod.

I have a ring mod/trem thing if you fancy something different ;-)
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Nah, not interested in any of those.

I fancy trying a Slicer. If someone has one and could give me an honest opinion that would help though.

The zoom multistomp has a slicer on it plus many more effects for much less real estate space and cash.

  • Noel Gallagher was using one on the last Oasis tour. That's about all I know.

On record, I loved it. Our producer has one. It's all over the end of this song:

I've bitten the bullet and ordered one.

None of my local shops had one in stock, so I've done a web order for one.

Will hopefully do what I need...

  • So today my Slicer arrived.

Will report back once I have had a play on it for a few days. First impressions are "Lots of knobs"

Anyone else on here got one?

Out of curiosity does it do the vox repeater thing like this from about 1.50, also check out the dudes channel for some fairly mental Japanese garage rock if that's your thing.

  • Sort of similar.

Its like a hard gate with rhythmic patterns and then you can adjust the Attack & Delay of the effect as well.

  • So I am really enjoying the Slicer pedal.

Its a lot of fun and has lots of scope for sonic destruction and rhythmic syncing.

On a whole I don't think purists will go anywhere near them, but for me it will be a great live and studio tool. The fact it is easy to use is the greatest thing about it. All knobs, no menus. So its instant and easy to tweak on the fly. It just works!

So I can sound like Optimus Prime or emulate an old school hard tremolo.

Just got in from rehearsal and this thing is mental!

If you like a bit of noise terrorism like I do then you'll love it.

I paired it up with my Pharaoh fuzz and my Ibanez Jet Flanger and it went ballistic. So a huge thumbs up from me.

    ;)

I had a Gig-Fx Chopper for a while - I might see if I can buy it back, but failing that I shall have to save up for a Slicer :)
