2013 All Ireland Hurling Final

This years All Ireland Hurling Final was an absolute cracker.  Hurling, as you may already know, is a game played at a speed that almost defies physics.  Those of us who love the game were in awe of the skill levels, stamina and sheer courage of both the Cork and Clare teams last Sunday at Croke Park.  Cork scored what must have felt like the winning point deep into injury time but Clare somehow scored from the puck out - the referee then blew up for full time.  The replay may not live up to the drawn game but it ought to be interesting.

Hurling is played by amateur players.  For nothing except glory.  The overpaid over hyped POOFS who lined out for the Republic of Ireland -v- Sweden at the Aviva stadium [a game which thankfully I missed due to attending a music session which went on for most of the night] could do worse than look at a DVD of that Cork -v- Clare game.

Hurling as a game is played at full speed with no holding back on anything.  A game of men with sticks hitting a ball sounds dangerous yet there is very few injuries - testament to the extraordinary levels of skill and perception of the players.  A hurling game is a must see for any visitor to Ireland.  And if you can go to one game, make it the Munster Hurling Final.  You will never forget the experience.  Or the hangover afterwards.
