Fixed my first dead fret

Am not a luthier, never done this before so was very nervous about it. I don't have any luthier tools so what I did was:
1 - loosen the string
2 - lock it to a neighbouring string so it doesn't move (I used a clothes peg)
3 - lay a wooden spoon side on over the fret. I don't have a wood hammer and laying the spoon like that makes the blow very precise.
4 - hammer with gentle taps on the spoon
5 - ever so often bring the string to tension and check if it still buzzes

I'm sure there are better ways to do this, but as a spot fix with no extra tools it worked really well. Took me 5 minutes once I had figured out how to do it using what I had at home. Hope this helps somebody.
