Morley Little Alligator volume pedal - Steve Vai "Little Alligator"
Morley Bad Horsie wah-wah - Steve Vai "Bad Horsie"
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Surely both of those pedals came into existence after the songs were recorded?

     Also

Boss HM-2 - Entombed or most Swedish Death Metal

Guyatone Wah Rocker - Most things involving Guthrie Govan.

It's already been mentioned but I guess I now associate Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins as an example of how good a Big Muff can sound. Plenty of Dinosaur Jr records rely on that pedal too.

Has anyone of note outside of Albini used an Interfax Harimonic Percolater on record? At Action Park by Shellac took my head of at the time. Albini's guitar sound is pretty unique.
Different muff versions though, J used a Deluxe Big Muff on the first couple of Dinosaur Jr albums and now uses a Rams Head, the exact pedal was cloned by Tym Guitars in their Fuzz Munchkin, i'm not sure what he used in between though.

Most of Albini's sound comes from his guitar and amp set up, he is thought to use the Harmonic Percolator infrequently - it's certainly not on all the time.

  • Yeah Albini's mysterious amp setup, in combination with his Travis Bean guitars and metal picks contributes much more to his guitar sound than the Harmonic Percolator AFAIA, although it is a cool pedal.

  • RE the White Stripes POG/Whammy discussion, pretty sure the POG was not around in 2002/3 when Seven Nation Army was recorded, definitely a whammy for both up and down

Could this also be the "i bought this pedal because of this song" thread haha

To be fair I doubt there are that many high profile uses of the Blue Box pedal on record.

Ok, back to an old fave of mine Mr Billy Duffy. Two of the biggest Cult hits Sanctuary and Fire Woman are always linked in my mind with the Boss BF2 flanger and the Dm-2 delay. Maybe a bit of Super Overdrive in there too.

The Cure: add a BF-2 to everything. Perfect.

Electric Mistress - Shine On U Crazy Diamond - Floyd
Big Muff into Coloursound Boost (I think) - Comfortably Numb - Floyd

Wrong on both counts- Phase 90 for SOYCD, muff, dynacomp and em for CNumb

Beacause it's a horrible effect, people buy it, try it...sell it.

Sounded shit when Page played it as well.

(all my opinion of course, ymmv etc etc)

Streets is too complex to be a DMM. A lot of Joshua Tree is a dual-rhythm thing from the TC2290 iirc (Streets, Still Haven't Found). The SDD3000 is all over Achtung Baby though

All the delays on Boy are DMM though. Out of Control and Electric Co are particularly good use of it :)

I think the Edge used one on a couple of tracks off "All that You Can't Leave Behind". Maybe the solo in "Kite"?

Poss, I'm no expert, I'm going off what he said on It Might Get Loud, he says on their he was using it, although that might have just been when writing

Didn't Rowland S Howard from the Birthday Party use a Blue Box together with an MXR Distortion? Buzz from The Melvins used one too.

Thurston Moore used to have one on his board too, but now just uses a Dunlop Hendrix Systems Octave Fuzz – which is an evil sounding octave up fuzz.

I wouldn't disagree. I mean "Fool in the Rain" is an ok MOR track with a shuffle beat and a samba break in the middle.

So Pagey gets to the solo break and thinks " 'kin 'ell, this track's begging for a jazzy solo put through an octave fuzz".

Mind you there's some shit on ITTOD.

Hot Dog is the nadir of Zep IMO and Pagey's worst recorded tone.
