NGD - just not for me.

What's Hot
markblackmarkblack Frets: 1591
My old man owned a music shop which we recently shut down. At the time I got a couple of guitars one being a 339. I decided I'd keep it if I ever had a baby it would be his. Well he arrived this week and here he is with it. Might be a while before he gets the hang of it.

Awesome picture! I love 339's. Only sold mine due to wrong neck shape.

I think the look on the wee fella's face is saying:

"I am not convinced that will have the full hollow-body tone of a 335"

    or maybe:

"That needs a Bigsby to be any use at all to me"

Don't even joke about things like that. I hope the boy doesn't hold such degenerate views when he grows up.

whispers :"what is it with all these baby pictures, anyone would think we have gone all soft or that this is an offshoot of some mums-net"

Nature or Nurture? That is the question with these things.  :D

I was also considering that he was maybe thinking:

'Shouldn't matter too much when I knock that off it's stand in a few years time. I have read on the forum classifieds and ebay, that a well executed neck break repair, is stronger than original. So it s really a positive thing. So my dad will actually be pleased.'

Lovely picture, I have plans to do the same thing !!!

Although i am thinking when is the best age to tell them that's theirs.

Age 3? probably still too small.

Age 7? Still too small and no doubt break it and drop it.

    Age 10? 15?

What is the right age to tell them this guitar is his without him painting crayons all over it/throw it against the wall in a tantrum/sell it a buy a Chapman :p.

    I am thinking 16th birthday....

What a great picture / event.

If it were me doing it all again (Mine are all growed up now) i would buy him a cheap but useable copy of the 339 and encourage him to get in a band and perform.
A short time before his first big proper gig in front of an audience, present it to him and tell him how proud of him you are.

    Awwwww....
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

  • So precious and delicate with an easily damaged neck and head if you don't treat them with utmost care. Cute kid too, congrats!
