With the impending doom of my birthday my better half has offered to put some dough into a new guitar for me, cue "awww....."

Anyhow, what started as looking at a wee MIM Tele, possibly bitsa ones, has somehow evolved into looking at EJ Strats on here then to wanting to offer stupid low deals for a Les Paul Classic Plus and Baja Tele from the same seller on here to looking at a delicious £2499 used '58 Reissue Les Paul, then the "fuck it, a new '59 is only £100 a month for a few years"...type nonsense... None of which I can afford or justify, particularly with a whole new central heating system needed for my young family...

Ugh. .. ...

Anyone offering 0% Interest Credit on here.... ?

Remember that central heating is only used when it's cold - a guitar is for every day!

Kinda my point too, but just wait for Winter. I'll get banned off here for moaning about the cold....I'm a right soft arse below 10° C.

What do you think your budget would be if you didn't use credit?

If I'm being honest £400-500 really... stretching to a wee bit more for a mint deal.

I was offered a wonderful handbuilt guitar by H J Williams for mates rates, a total and utter steal, but it's just too much of a stretch.  But that's kinda my point, why then do I start drooling over instruments that will be more that I want less?

I did look at this after your strong recommendation but the bridge just puts me off, just now feeling the love for it. 

Been offered a Baja locally but his pricing is £430 and won't budge when I know ebay ones have sold for £350....so I cut my nose off etc...

I played an EJ once and was utterly bowled over. I think the 12" radius soft V swung it. Just so comfy compared to any other Fender I've ever played.

1970 warm air heating... urgh...

Two things wrong; the £900 gas bill for 4th quarter 2012/13, and the water pilot goes out every few hours now. 

Was quoted £7000 for a new system by British Gas, so a wee ask on Facebook and a mate of mine turned out to do this for a living and I now get the same deal for £2600.  Still equivalent to a '58 Reissue in World Guitars right now.....

So... £7000 - £2600 = £4400 So by searching arround you saved enough money to buy a guitar, amp and some pedals...

Nearly, more like chucking empty cans of McEwans Export at the telly whilst smacking the dogs with my Daily Record. 

The only exercise I'll get to work off my battered mars bars and Irn Bru, bar the obvious chore of carrying the recycling box full of empty bottles of tonic wine. 

This was in jest but come to think of it......
