Thomann is not the only German site selling cheap guitars

I have in the past used musicstore.de for some purchases and they have their own budget brand called Jack and Danny. Similar in price to Thomann's Harley Benton but some more choice in models and colours. I can't vouch for the quality but some of the pictures look nice.

The strats have wilkinson pickups too, and alder bodies and there's a surf green one for €89

I think you are right.  AFAIK they are the guys who "bought" Digital Village when it went under.  Given the way that was handled I wouldn't want to buy from them.

I did some checking on reviews using google translate and the quality appears to be questionable. Shame, some of them look nice.
By the way I have bought a PA and an American Deluxe strat from musicstore.de in the past and received excellent service on both occasions.

I recently went to their shop in Cologne (not the massive one on the edge of town, but the one in the centre). They do great deals on returned stock - I've been eyeing up a couple of items on there and often are cheaper than Thomann. Worth checking both. I beleieve France has a similar store, but cant remember the name!

  • I have also used them - bought an epiphone tribute - great service

I can't comment on the way it was handled angle.

But it looks like buying some of their stuff through DV's UK site/ shop might work out cheaper than buying from Germany.

Has anyone ever come across/ played those Fame guitars they stock?

It is.  I bought a Grandmeister 36 from DV247 last week, and it arrived next day from Dusseldorf.

  • I bought my Switchblade from them. Had an issue with the first one and they were excellent - picked it up and replaced it quickly. 30 day return policy and 3 year guarantee too, I think.

We have Woodbrass and Euro Guitar in France, Euro Guitar is possibly the better of the two but Thomann is still an easier and usually slightly cheaper option.

  • looking at the prices on Euro guitar they seem more expensive than thomann and they also charge delivery.

The way the euro is going thomanns prices are getting better and better

Problem is you'd have to actually buy from MusicStore.

Jack and Danny is / was the name of a distributor / guitar brand that supplied to Thomanns back in 2008.  All Harley Bentons were originally from that stable.

Made the mistake of clicking on the vintage section - some really nice mustangs and a couple of es-120s
    Stop crying, start buying

    Mmmmmmmmm.....

so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.
