Super 5 way switch

Anybody tried to fit one in a USA std Tele? No way in hell it's gonna fit as it is so offset, and unless I rout out control cavity it ain't going in there.

Any thoughts or tips?

its not easy. you won't fit a double wafer superswitch in. 

route the cavity, but you need to make sure the plate still covers it. you need to route below the top surface so it has to be slid into place

If you don't want to rout the guitar, will the switch fit in the cavity off-centre? If so, you could get a custom cover plate made with an off-centre slot.

I had one in mine without any problems. What make switch is it? Mine seem slimmer than that. I still have a couple here if you want to try one of them.

Which make are you using ? @robinbowes what options does that give you ?

I think I have a DiMarzio one and a couple of Fender packaged ones. On mine I have one wired up for a three pickup guitar which gives neck, neck/middle, neck/bridge, middle/bridge, bridge. I found that combo really useful.

The slim one is the 2-pole single wafer superswitch.

Half the options over the one shown above, but I believe it does give all those settings

It's definitely easier if you bend all the terminals over the other way - towards the mechanism - as in WezV's pic above.

You need to do this *before* you solder anything to them since the solder will lock them into the shape they are, and if you try to bend them afterwards you may snap them off.

The single-wafer 2-pole/5-way does give any (parallel) combination of two pickups in any position, which is enough for most schemes, but it's actually harder to get than the double-wafer 4-pole one. You can remove the second wafer if you don't need it and you can't get the slimmer switch.
