Re: Inserting a photo into a post

What's Hot
Hi Guys

I seem to be having difficulty inserting a photo into a post......I've never had any problems before and usually use Image Shack but also have a Photobucket page.

The usual IMG link works fine when pasted into the post but I have tried every single link option on Image Shack, and there are several, and none of them works.  I either get the word 'image' in the post but no link or I just get the original link from Image Shack.

It was suggested that I use the 'Insert Image' option on the toolbar (above) but when I tried this I either got the link or got the word 'image' in the post.

Loads of people have inserted photos in different posts so it's not the system.......it's me!!!  :)

Could somebody walk me through how to do it, step by step?

Many thanks

Guy

    I use imageshack without issue.

Just the direct link works, so just copy and paste that here....no IMG tags or any of that. The very clever forum software just sorts it out.

    +1
I had to experiment a few times but clicking direct link on PB and then pasting direct works - I have to refresh the post to see it though.

Thanks guys......John_P's point about refreshing before the image can be seen is a VERY good one.  I will now try that and report back!!!  :)

No joy!!  I've tried for the umpteenth time to do this on the 'Bass' page and it still just comes up as a link, not the photo.  Can't understand it.  This is the direct link for the photo on Image Shack.

    @surfguy13
For ImageShack photos you can't use the link that appears under the photo.
It is the url of the page containing the photo, not of the photo itself.

The link you need is either obtained by:
    • Right clicking the photo and copying the "Direct Link".
    • Right clicking the full-size photo and choosing "Copy Image Address" (or the equivalent in your browser).
Keep in mind that when pasting the link directly into the comment box the page will need to be refreshed for the image to appear (so the parser can do its job).
If using the "image" button there's no need to refresh the page. ;)

    Hi ddlooping

Right, thanks for the clear instructions.  I've managed to get the 'direct link' option up by right clicking on the photo so I'll try and load it into the comment box here and see if it works.....

Thanks for the advice!!  Appreciate it
