...that can take on the Faith Mercury for sound and playability? Or where the neck joins the body at the 14th fret rather than the 12th?

You can get a faith merc with a scoop - I've seen one in gloss black.

@Ionian, I tried one the Faith Eclipse models with the scoop but I still struggled to get up to the 14th fret, which I wouldn't normally mind, but given the circumstances that I have a wedding gig to play in April that requires some twiddling up that part it wouldn't make much sense to buy one that I find restrictive.

Having done some more research, i'm finding the world of acoustics bewildering and trying to figure out what means what i.e Parlour, Travel, Grand Auditorium, 00, 000's... Laminated versus solid sides and back....

On reflection i've got to say I prefer the look of acoustics without the cutaway and seeing that some smaller bodied models join at the 14th fret, I reckon this could the way to go for me.

From my digging about the Taylor GS Mini Electro version seems to be my best bet. A cheaper alternative would be the Sigma 000M-1ST (if they do an electro version).

@IanSavage I have no clue about the Luna brand, are they pretty well respected?

As far as I am aware a 000/is larger than a 00.
Grand auditorium is smaller than 00 and Parlour the smallest. Travel guitars are often shallow and sometimes shorter scale length.

Laminated tends to be cheaper than solid wood.

I'm looking for a small body acoustic that joins at the 14th fret. Auden do a nice model called the Marlow but it is very expensive.

Luna are pretty good from the ones I've played, never picked up a bad one - although if you and @Ionian are looking at non-cutaway 14th fretters I can't recommend the Vintage V880N and V880VS highly enough; yes, I'm endorsed, but they're fantastic instruments regardless of the price and the fact that they're £200 without electronics and £250 with (possibly cheaper if you shop around) is the icing on the cake.

Cheers for the heads up on the Vintage Models @IanSavage. I know your a local chap and was wondering if your going to the Guitar Show this weekend? I know JHS will be there, do you reckon they'll be carrying much stock and do traders rend to offer significant discounts at these shows?

I'll most likely be there at least for an hour or two to say hello; I don't think many of the distributors will be selling much until the Sunday afternoon (need stock to show off, I guess!) but if it's anything like last year there's a few dealers doing show-specials. I've got a V880VS myself; if you're coming to the after-show, it'll likely put in an appearance.

The Old Royal, on Church Street - less than two miles from the show back into town, ten minute walk from the hotels and stuff in the Jewellery Quarter where I assume many are staying. There's a thread for it somewhere...
