Tunomatic and no master volume on the Starcaster is causing waves at OSG but I'm perfectly happy with that. MAJOR WANT happening here. A cherry red would be good...? Just hope they don't have skinny "Modern C" necks and tiny frets

I emailed Fender to ask them about these and got the following response.

 "We are still in the final R&D phase with these products so we don’t have any information as far as detailed specs, price or availability. We are looking at a release date before the end of the year if all goes as planned so we should have more information then"

So, end of the year for these then. But if it's anything like the Guild Newark street release, it'll be at least 12 months away.........

Love the picket fence, looks like he must work in Fender quality control as well(don't worry, I'd say just the same if they were Gibson necks) 
If you don't want a 12 month wait for Fender for such a cool guitar, and fancy a bit of graft, I found someone making bodies. HEREBig thanks to Ash aka TheGuitarWeasel for that one, as I found it on his site.

I have this hankering to build a 7 string Starcaster .... there !  It's out there ...

My own self build Coronado thread will be here shortly ... just got a block inlay neck ... so it's all systems go.
If you want a seven string Wide Range ... it can be pretty simply done ... just wouldn't be able to get the nice shiny cover
