Anyone ever tried one of these?

In a moment of madness I bought a Royal Tan one this morning.

Should be here by the end of the week. MIC with USA electronics and setup I believe.

It's all about the sexy semis on here today. I was watching Macca strumming his on tv the other night and thinking there is something just right ( well, other than that his is back to front) about that design.

These were Ltd Ed. in 2011 - I'm not sure of the street price back then so don't even know if I paid the correct sum of sterling...

  • I saw Gary Clark Jr using one of these last year at a gig in Hyde Park, it sounded sublime so I'm sure you'll be happy. Looked cool to boot. 8)

    Ooh.
For anyone unfamiliar with him worth checking out the clip of him playing at the Crossroads festival - couple of years ago I think. Unknown guy with off the shelf far eastern Epiphone blows rock royalty off the stage.
if he is on Jools maybe there is a new album coming? I think the first one was generally considered a bit dissapointing despite his live promise.

His EP is better overall than his album, but if you strip the 4/5 poppier tracks out it's still a good listen. :)

Just watched last night's Jools performance very Black Keysesque...

    Which is good thing.

These Casinos are awesome. If you're a Beatles fan, it'll be right up your street.

I'm not a Beatles fan I'm afraid - although I will readily acknowledge their contribution to popular music and obvious influence on many artists I do like.

I don't suppose you can recall what these sold for when you stocked them can you?

    Cheers

The whole Epiphones-made-in-China-and-priced-like-Gibsons-made-in-the-USA thing bothers the hell out of me.

Agreed - he didn't sound "right" last night, or at least not like his normal outings. Either way, I still like his style.

Nice to see him sporting the prototype for his signature model again too - he posted it on FB a while back and I suspect I'll be ordering one. :)

From memory I think they were around £500 or £550 when new, but not certain? More than the typical epi dot, but less than the lennon.

Yup, around £500 depending on finish. Even if you're not a Beatles fan, I'd still highly recommend them!

I've seen used sell for quite a lot more than the new price.
I'm still kicking myself for missing out on them. A friend had one and it was wonderful - kicked the arse of my MIK Casino in every way - sound, playability, looks.

Thanks for the info - I paid the right money ex display with a setup.

Interestingly the last couple of used ones went for £550 & £600 on evilbay.

I should add that I'm not too fussed about the money. As long as it's a nice player.

It will be a YOB guitar for my daughter. That's the story the wife got anyway....

A mate of mine has one. I've played it a few times and each time I scheme wildly about how to make it mine. It's a lovely instrument.
