Perfect. Great video as well. Demystifies the whole thing nicely.

    can anyone tell me this?

say one was mental enough to be using four amps at once in two stereo pairs. Could you feed one pair in stereo from the pre outs, and the other pair in stereo with the in or out (post). And be able to have just one pair working, or all 4 amps at once, with different fx in any patch feeding a different pair? i.e. ultimate flexibilty between those four.

not for me, obviously - asking for a friend
    Don't think so.
    The AFX can do this.

You could have one pair of amps on the pre outs and use effects before the amp and another pairs amps connected to the post outs but the only way I can see to run all four at once is to take a line from one of the first pair of amps back into the fx8 to run onto the 2nd stern pair, which would compromise the options for setting different sounds.

I'm also, weirdly, exploring the effects more. When I had the G2 setup, each pedal was pretty much set and forget. With the Helix, I'm exploring the capabilities of each effect more and coming up with more sounds, just because it is so much easier to store and recall the results.

@JohnPerry - I love the BigSky, but the Fractal reverbs are the best I've heard

You know how much I love verb and the Big Sky... The FX8 equal at least, and possibly better

  • How long can the reverbs get timewise?

On the fx8 can you assign an IA to something like the freeze button of a delay like you can in the axe fx?

Yes, both the delay and reverb have a hold function.
You can either use an expression pedal to engage it or create two scenes, one with it off one with it on and switch between them.
Or use XY if you don't want to tie up a scene.

More waxing lyrical... It is just so bloody good this FX8...

So, FX8 into (stereo) Rambler (triode clean) and Lazy J (slightly breaking up)... Just FX8 verb and compressor. Best sound ive had at home levels... Very full 3D sounds. Really overjoyed with this.

Right, Ill shut up for a while.

The minute I can get something working for me I'm ditching the Helix
I'll maybe start sniffing around the Ax8
